  • Felicia Perez, MFA

“While completing my masters in studio art, my faith was accepted and respected, but not necessarily understood. I was at home the very first time I stepped into Mass for Artists with Arthouse2B, and felt extremely privileged to present a solo exhibition with them the summer of 2023. Having a community of Catholic artists makes me feel wanted and appreciated.”

Too often, art and faith are sundered, and faith-filled artists are left feeling they have to choose. It's refreshing to spend time with people whose vision is whole. As a priest originally trained as a musician, offering Mass for and performing with Arthouse2B has helped integrate my life as a priest, toward the One who is True, Good and Beautiful.

Liquid molten metal is made from melting down twisted bars of metal, rusted radiators, old car parts and other various metal salvage... then purified in a crucible.

Once the impurities are removed there is refined liquid molten metal.

When pouring liquid molten metal there is a time as it descends into the prepared mold that one cannot discern where the fire begins and the metal ends. So bright are both.

Arthouse2B encourages the heart of the artist to remain aflame - so that one cannot see where Jesus ends and the artist begins. They are too close, Jesus and the heart of the artist are fused as one.

This is a place where this fusion is encouraged to happen.

“As an artist, I have found it difficult to find creatives that share my passion to create art that points to God. The collaboration I found through Arthouse2B led to the creation of my latest project, The Psalmist’s Heart. It has been a blessing to find talented creatives who share in my vision of co-creating with our Lord.”

I found my home as an artist at a small Harlem gallery named after the Angel Gabriel. I was welcomed there, fed, encouraged, and challenged to grow. Conversations were had over thoughtfully-prepared hors d’oeuvres. Gradually I ceased to be a guest. When it came time to exhibit work of my own, the Arthouse2B team made sure, in ways great and small, that I knew I was part of a community. There is nothing special about me, though. Everything flowed from Arthouse2B and their genuine gift for hospitality.
